Cover Letter

Here is an example document from a Database Manager's role.

Please notice how the Cover Letter achieves a number of aims in one document:

1. It allows you to identify your experience with reference to their vacancy.

2. You can describe your key skills which may be hard to pick out from your CV

3. The document will go further than just a CV in identifying you as a suitable candidate to interview.

Dear Recruitment Manager,

Please accept my application in response to your Part-Time Administration & Database Manager opportunity you are recruiting for at present.

I possess at least 3 years of experience working in a database and administration management capacity, dealing with a number of bespoke and constantly evolving systems. In my previous role I was tasked with managing the relationship of 15 consultants with a bespoke database system. My role incorporated gathering relevant data, organising it and re-structuring the database to remove this aspect of a consultant’s role altogether.  Whilst performing this role I had to balance the needs of senior management, stakeholders, consultants and candidates.

My father worked in the charities sector and has illustrated the importance of World Mission as a ‘safety net’ to what is an incredibly dangerous industry to work in. I can see how the coordination of the mission’s work could be a demanding area and I believe my skills are well suited to addressing this need.

My CV is enclosed as proof that I meet all the criteria listed in your ad. An interview would give me the chance to further prove my unique strengths.

I hope to hear from you shortly.

Sincerely

Mayhew Foxtrot
